Loving your neighbor as yourself and the golden rule are absolutely dictated by how we love God. Without a foundation of justice and righteousness we lose an affinity with holiness, longing to be coddled and seek permission for complacency over sharpening. Our “love” then becomes a hostage situation of gratifying our flesh.
